Now after over a month after the program ended the dealers are still trying to get their money, the Government owes them around a billion and a half dollars. Were they winners? I guess they will decide.



You will have to have a clear title in your name to sell your car for parts. The junk yard dogs does not want the hassle of dealing with a stolen car that has owners searching for it. Of course, you know the car belongs to you, but the junk yard owner does not and does not want to take the risk. If you cannot find the title, order a copy before you try to sell the car.

Recycling is one of my favorites. I only hold my scrap for a day and then sell it to the scrap yard the next day. I collect appliances, bed frames, ceiling fans, metal futons,etc.. I pull the copper wire out when it is easy to do because its worth more. I will cover that in another article. Just for scrap mixed metal you get about $6.00 for a 100 pounds. Does not sound like much but it is easy to get a 100 pounds of scrap. For example; a refrigerator, washer, microwave, futon, hot water heater, and five bikes weigh about 800 pounds. That is $48.00 tax free!

For those individuals who are earth friendly, why would you buy a new piece for your car unless it was absolutely necessary? Did you know that to produce one part for a car, it not only adds to the pollution in the air, takes up other precious resources like petroleum? When you take advantage of the auto salvage yards, you are recycling and saving some of the problems in the world. Today’s figure shows that there are millions of these vehicles in a recycling phase each year in America. Imagine how many parts that would add up too! Landfill space is also saved by the multitude of parts being reused instead of being thrown away.

Whether you drive a four door luxury sedan, a streamlined speed machine or a heavy duty SUV, repairing your vehicle when it is damaged can be expensive. Parts costs are a huge factor in many repairs.

Once you’ve found your car, figure out how you’re going to pay for it. Depending on where you go to get the car, you may need to use a specific method of payment. A site like eBay could allow you to pay with a credit card. However, a salvage yard may require payment in cash. Ask before you buy.

Some salvage yards send customers to look for their own parts and some of them can tell you exactly what they have in stock. If pick your part go to a yard that requires you to find your own replacement parts take along a friend, a tape measure, and a cell phone. There are a lot of junk cars in the big lots and you are going to need to make sure you do not get lost or injured while you are looking through them all. Since you will not know the system the business uses to store these vehicles it will be easy for you to get confused and miss the ones that might contain what you need.

Advertise your yard sale at least one week in advance. Yard sale enthusiasts stretch far beyond your immediate neighbors, often attracting bargain hunters on the look out for the next big sale on the lawn.
